Brenda L. Gleason, President and Founder
Brenda is the author of What We Don’t Want to Hear About Health Care: It’s
All Our Fault – 8 Things We Can Do to Fix the System and is the co-editor of
the forthcoming book, Essential Case Studies in Public Health: Putting Public
Health into Practice by Jones and Bartlett Publishers.
In 2005, Brenda started M2 Health Care Consulting, a strategic policy and
communications firm based in Washington, D.C. providing services to Fortune 100
companies, multinational professional services companies and private equity
firms, in addition to non-profit health associations. Brenda continues to serve
as President of M2.
Brenda brings a unique perspective to analysis, problem-solving and
communications because of her broad-ranging experience in government, publishing
and business. M2 is unique in its ability to “speak the languages” of both
Washington and Wall Street. Since beginning her career in health policy at the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Brenda has worked on issues at the
intersection of business and policy for a range of industries. During her
four-year tenure at a New York-based merger arbitrage hedge fund, Brenda
developed strategy and recommended investments for 100+ deals annually.
Brenda has served as the editor of several health care publications including
Community Health Funding Report and the Medicaid Pharmacy Bulletin,
and worked on policy and strategy issues for Pfizer Inc. and for the contract
research organization PAREXEL International. Prior to starting M2, Brenda was
the Vice President of Healthcare Markets for Informed Decisions, LLC, a provider
of innovative health information technology solutions for government and
commercial providers, including the award-winning eMPOWERx platform.
Frequently quoted as a health policy expert, Brenda has appeared in publications
such as the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Crain’s New York
Business, Managed Healthcare Executive, Pharmaceutical Executive, Healthcare
Finance News, Journal of Oncology Practice, Washington Business Journal and
Pharmawire (part of the Financial Times Group), among others.
Brenda is Adjunct Faculty at The George Washington University School of Public
Health and Health Services. Her undergraduate degree was earned from The
University of Denver and she completed graduate work in health policy at The
George Washington University and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Brenda
also has an MA from Boston College and an MPH from Boston University.
